Happy Secular Occasion? No, Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! I sincerely hope that nobody feels threatened by that. I never felt threatened or uncomfortable by someone wishing me Happy Hanukkah. I was grateful for the kind wishes and hardly felt threatened. I don't think I would feel threatened if someone wished me a wonderful Ramadan. Again, thanks for the kind wishes. I think those who prefer a secular world need to come up with a better argument. This "discomfort" and "threatened" crap just doesn't hold water.

What prompted this? A funny thing happened to Ol' BC at the workplace. Business was slow as it always is during the Christmas season. There were "Christmas" cards on display in the various departments. Sooooo.....Ol' BC began a count. Thirty-four cards( I think) displayed. Three referenced Christmas. I found that somewhat odd for a "Christmas " card. I asked a couple of people what those things were and they both said "Christmas cards." Funny how hardly any mention Christmas. Maybe this "secular occasion" crap has more weight that I thought. Doesn't Christmas celebrate a specific event? I know here Colonel Hogan's public children's prisons now have "winter break." We had "Christmas vacation."

I'm failing to see the benefit. I'm just glad that in this country we don't cut people's heads off that don't go along with the holiday.

Just a thought.

Merry Christmas to you as well, Ol' BC.

The only "holiday" celebrated around this time of year that I find threatening is Kwanzaa, which is sold as this wonderful African holiday, despite that about seven people on that entire continent have even heard of it.

It was actually created by an American socialist who had no problem enshrining socialism in the "holiday"'s so-called "ideals". Spreading this kind of crap around under the false pretense that what's being celebrated is some kind of cultural event is truly dangerous and threatening to any freedom-loving American.

HAHA ... Now watch the libs start up with their "racist" bullshit.

Lots of people in El Pueblo de Los Angeles are aware of Quanza, though I don't know anyone who actually know what it's supposed to mean.

I've heard (and said) "Merry Christmas more often this year than in the past several years. I guess O'Reilly's rants are working.....

I've refused to attend or watch (on tv) the "Hollywood Santa Parade" until they return to it its original name, "The Hollywood Christmas Parade."

Kwanzaa is a load of crap based on communism. I posted on it last year as have a couple of others I read. If you're not familiar with it definitely do a little research. You can start in the archives from last December. RWR has posted on it as well I think.

You guys are hilarious. Can every conversation be turned into anti-communist rhetoric? You know, Santa wears red. Could he be a commie?

Not every conversation. Only the ones where it applies, like Kwanzaa where they celebrate collectivism. Most blacks probably aren't aware of it. They just see something to celebrate their heritage.

I think it is funny that people get upset about changes in holidays and the way we perceive them. After all, Christmas may celebrate the birth of Christ now, but the date was not always associated with Christ. The tree is a completely pagan symbol. The 25th coincides with the winter solstice and was actually the birth day of the sun god Mithra, thus signifying the return of longer days to the world. Christianity just co-opted all of these ideas and integrated them into their own mythos. They are particularly good at this.

A funny story relates how the early Christians began cutting down pine trees because they were associated with pagan ideas about eternity. Seeing that they could not cut down every tree in the forests they decided to integrate the symbol into their own rebirth and eternity celebrations.

So. Holidays change according to the needs of the culture, just as religions do. Raging against this is not to see that religions and traditions have been changing for thousands of years and will continue to change for thousands more.

Get over it! ;)

Nice job of ranting and raving completely off topic, Mark.

Maybe you could address something that Ol'BC said??

Anything?

Christmas is what Christmas is. We are all already savvy to the history of why December 25 was chosen for the celebration and, frankly, why and when the tree became part of the tradition.

As free people, though, we are right to call to attention the racism and socialism associated with Kwanzaa, and especially the phoniness of it all, allowing it to be represented as a traditional African holiday when it was simply made up in the 1960's by a bigot American.

There's nothing for me to get over here. Defending freedom is the supreme duty of every American. Socialism and racism have no place America. You are the one who needs to "get over it".

RWR, I was responding to the original message. You are the one who side-tracked the topic by veering it into Kwanzaa Commie Country.

I am not defending racism. I am simply saying that we shouldn't get attached to our holiday traditions because they are bound to change... the topic of the original post, in case you forgot.

You are one of those guys who can't talk about anything unless it has something to do with his own agenda, so you veer every topic, whether it is relevant or not, into your niche topic. I was not ranting. I was addressing the original message. Perhaps you should re-read it.

Good day.

Mark:

You are a fool. I simply mentioned that Kwanzaa was bullshit, which it is. I state a simple fact, and all of a sudden I'm unable to comment without having an agenda.

I was responding to the original message as well.

You were the one that suggested that those of us doing the right thing and standing up to the Kwanzaa-Nazis should "get over it". Why should we? Kwanzaa is WRONG. We see a racist/socialist suggestion for a "holiday" and we're supposed to just sit by and let it happen? Just let it go while it destroys the very soul of our nation?

Most Americans cherish the freedom that we have been granted by God, Mark. We don't want to surrender them to a bunch of bigots with a socialist agenda. In fact, we refuse to. Too many people have died earning and defending our freedom to just hand it over like that. To sit back idly is to do them dishonor.

Retard. I was never addressing the Kwanzaa issue when I said get over it. I was addressing the subject of change. Can you please turn down your knee-jerk monitor? Jesus.

Blow me.

We bring up Kwanzaa, and you address us as if you could just call it "change", which is retarded in its own right. What the fuck did you think we were going to figure you were addressing???

In either case, there's still no change to the fact that Kwanzaa is a bigoted socialist excuse for a "holiday" that seeks to divide people along racial lines and get them to live in poverty, which is the inevitable result of socialism, especially in the long run.

"What the fuck did you think we were going to figure you were addressing???"

Pehaps you might have figured out that I was addressing the original message--- the one that had nothing to do with Kwanzaa? I was not talking about Kwanzaa. How many times do I need to say this? I was referring to the change mentioned in the original message. Do I need to use smaller words? Or is it that you just can't see the validity of anything that doesn't fit into your narrow and small minded world view? If it doesn't fit into your "Liberals suck" viewscreen, you don't see or get it, do you? Once again. You are a total bore. I will cease from responding to you anymore. I have gone down this road with you before. I should have learned then!!!

Truth hurts, doesn't it Mark.

I was right about everything I said about Kwanzaa. Guess you can't handle it. I brought it up in response to Ol' BC, a tried and true friend of nearly three years. He, as the owner of this blog, knows exactly why I brought it up. As for you, it isn't any of your fucking business.

My "Liberals suck" viewscreen happens to also be right. I demonstrate this repeatedly for you, and all you can do is pretend you have a sane argument. You don't.

You should have learned a long time ago that those of us who cherish freedom will bury you time and again, and in that same time and again, show you as the fool that you are. That's what frustrates you, isn't it, Mark? That you can't win the argument, and then no one wants to buy into your position?

You know, eventually you are simply going to have to admit that conservatives are right about these things. You can't hide from the truth forever.
