Greece - Home Of Funny Economic Numbers

This explains it. The article tells how the Greeks are having to count prostitution and smuggling estimates in their GDP. Why?

Under pressure from the European Union to cut its deficits, Greece is revising
its gross domestic product to include part of the booming black economy,
boosting its output by at least 10 percent in 2006,

Oh, those pesky EU types. In the land of rampant socialism, unemployment and economic disincentive, now they must falsify the numbers to keep the EU happy. You see, it has been established for years and years. When you increase taxes, production and revenue to the government tend to decrease. Why wouldn't it? Work more and keep less isn't my idea of fun.

Here's the tax rates. Notice that over 23,000 euros the tax is forty (40) percent. Couple that with sixteen (16) percent employee contribution to Socialist Security and it's no wonder they have to include illicits in the "official numbers" to keep the EU happy.

Just an observation.

It has in fact gone to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Well if that's true, then hats off to whomever made that call ... At least it's being spent Constitutionally.

Cut the bleeding heart crap, Beef, and think for once.

Our federal tax dollars will always be better spent on defense.

War also happens to be more expensive than education.

Oh, and then there's that matter of being able send my kids to a school that's not cramming the Koran down their throats and teaching them that it's ok to kill people as long as they take a few "infidels" with them.

You can continue in your state of denial, or simply face the fact that without stepping up to fight the war, you won't have any say in whether your daughter will even be allowed to attend school.

Money well spent when you consider the consequences of giving in to the terrorists.

The Constitutionality of defense is not in question. Education is. Show me the article and section of the Constitution that gives ther federal government the authority to get involved in state matters such as education, and we'll debate from there.

In the meantime, cut it with the bullshit. You aren't making yourself look very intelligent.

You do, Beef - but that's nothing new.

For some reason, there are a lot of people who think the government is the only way anything can ever happen (such as educating kids).

It's not much of a leap to figure out that failing to beat the terrorists will ultimately result in their imposiong their wacky religious view on you and me and everyone else. They've already said plenty of times that that's their intention.

We must fight. We must win.

After that, we can get serious about beating back the horrors of American socialism. With any luck we can get a head start on that, too.

Beef, what do you think the purpose of the war they started is?

THEY plan to do it by hijacking our planes, kidnapping our citizens and subjecting them to death and ultimately working to take over our country and the whole rest of the world - and forcing their religion upon it.

Are they powerful enough? They seem to think so, thanks to the "paper tigers" that we had in the White House prior to 2001. They've made their intentions abundantly clear. You have to have been living under a rock for at least five years not to know that. As long as they are of the mindset that they can win and force their caliphate upon us, then they must be treated as if they are that powerful.

Winning the war is not an automatic. We must fight now before our enemy reaches the point where he can raise the kind of army it will take to beat us. Iran, North Korea, and Syria are all places with the potential to do this, and if you don't see the preparations they are making to join the war so that they can do the above, then you aren't taking them seriously and are therefore a fool.

The same mistake was made with Hitler.

Your response, Beef, shows your naivete as well as your idiocy.

Terror organizations, especially those with the support of national governments, will try to do just that. If you don't take them seriously, you are a fool, and have no business calling me or anyone else stupid or insane.

It really doesn't matter whether they're actually powerful enough to succeed or not. As long as they are trying, the US government has the Constitutional responsibility to keep them at bay.

I wonder where you get off saying that Christians thrive on suffering and persecution, while simultaneously coming to this blog and advocating the same kinds of policies advocated by communists and socialists, who have casued REAL suffering and persecution.

Go crawl under a rock. You might just be productive there.
