Studds Dies

Headlines refer to him as "first openly gay congressman." One has to dig deep to find what the real story was.

In 1983, Studds acknowledged his homosexuality after the page revealed he’d had
a relationship with Studds a decade earlier, when the page was 17.

Interesting to see how this is treated versus the Foley fiasco. Can you say night and day?

Studds was first elected in 1972 and represented Cape Cod and the Islands, New
Bedford, and the South Shore for 12 Congressional terms. He retired from
Congress in 1997.

Retired in 1997, fourteen (14) years after admitting buggering a minor. Like I said, interesting to compare the outrage of the Donks and the media.

Just an observation.

You make an interesting point. I think a lot of it has to do with the need, now, to pander to the moralist vote. The Republicans went after Clinton with a zeal that was fueled in a large part because they were pandering to the reactionary religious/moralist ideals that were growing in the nation at the time. Let us remember that it all started just because he got his dick sucked in the White House and that he certainly wasn't the first president to engage in this sort of extramarital activity.

It's my opinion that the democrats have simply learned from the republicans how to stir up the moralist vote.

The huge difference is on the part of the press. The Donks certainly are playing politics with a significantly less offensive issue than Studds. The press, however, pretty much gave him a pass as well as Clinton. It started because he got his dick sucked, but it continued because he perjured himself in front of a grand jury. Again, the Democrat got a pass from the press.

The point is, everyone uses this crap for political gain, whether they are democraps or repugnants!

As for the press, well, what are you gonna do? It's all a big propaganda machine, anyway, in my opinion. My advice is to blow up your tv, burn your paper, and throw out your radio! Then, you won't have to listen to any of it. The world proceeds quite happily without our tuning into it! ;)

But then, who would we have to think for us?

Gosh, you're right. I didn't even think about that. Wait--- that was your point, wasn't it?!?!? Damn. ;)

Always good to see your sense of humor.

ps--- how are things are Renner? Do you think the new Honda plant will change anything for you?

Good, I guess. Honda business has about doubled. Looks like big remodel coming down the pike. Could be interesting. But then again, expenses have to rise, assholes get tight, etc etc etc. So who really knows.

Renner is remodeling? Are they going to add a second level to their lot? ;) Honda business doubled?!?!? Wow! There must be some cause for this. I wouldn't count the plant in Greensburg out as having some residual consciousness-raising outcome!

Cool!
