Global Warming - No, New Ice Age

It seems that an ice age may be closer than a melt down. This news should make all the liberal types jump for joy. The algorians can relax. This article tells of the increase in snow and cooling of the earth.

The U.S. National Climatic Data Center (NCDC)
reported that many American cities and towns suffered record cold temperatures
in January and early February. According to the NCDC, the average temperature in
January "was -0.3 F cooler than the 1901-2000 (20th century) average."

Yahoo! Ol' BC hates the cold and northern winters but he sure is relieved to know that the gloom and doom predictions of the algorians that has pretty much been refuted by all the ethical scientists are really a bunch of scare tactics to advance their socialistic plans. a long period of severely cold weather if sunspot activity does not pick up

The last time the sun was this inactive, Earth suffered the Little Ice
Age that lasted about five centuries and ended in 1850. Crops failed through
killer frosts and drought. Famine, plague and war were widespread. Harbours
froze, so did rivers, and trade ceased.
It's way too early to claim the same
is about to happen again, but then it's way too early for the hysteria of the
global warmers, too.

It is doubtful much will be made of this in the MSM since it is the opinion of actual scientists and not an algorian liberal. Maybe one of the scientists can pull down a Nobel Prize. The algorian type nuts in London may want to review this information before they get hurt.

The tree hugging fringe of the wild eyed liberals have a reason to celebrate. One may want to consider getting all the libs you know on board. What better way to make a statement?

Campaign Finance

This Ann Coulter piece sheds some light on how the political process has changed over the years. Why are there no good candidates nowadays?

If Tuttle found Ronald Reagan today, he couldn't form "Friends of Reagan" to
raise money for a possible run -- at least not without hiring a battery of
campaign-finance lawyers and guaranteeing himself a lawsuit by government
bureaucrats. He'd also have to abandon his friendship with Reagan to avoid the
perception of "coordination." Tuttle couldn't hold a $1,000-a-plate fundraiser
for Reagan -- at least in today's dollars. That would be a $6,496.94-a-plate
dinner (using the consumer price index) or a $19,883.51-a-plate dinner (using
the relative share of GDP). The limit on individual contributions to a candidate
is $2,300. Reagan's "Rendezvous With History" speech would never have been
broadcast on TV -- unless Tuttle owned the TV station. Independent groups are
prohibited from broadcasting electioneering ads 60 days before an election.

Wow. This column brings things into perspective. That little blurb is just part of it. Annie has some highly controversial moments and says some things she probably wishes she hadn't (although she would never admit it) but this isn't one of them. This is spot on. All we have to do is look at the candidates recently.

Kosovo Declares Independence

Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia today as it declared itself an independent democratic nation. A democratic nation according to this article.

"From this moment, the political position of Kosovo has changed," announced the
speaker of parliament, Jakup Krasniqi, after a unilateral declaration of
independence was adopted by lawmakers through a show of hands.
"We are now
an independent, free, sovereign and democratic country. Congratulations to all
of you."

This could change the landscape in the Balkans. The former Yugoslavia has been a mess for some time. It will be interesting to see how Serbia reacts to the new nation to its south.

"We declare Kosovo to be a democratic, secular and multi-ethnic republic, guided
by the principles of non-discrimination and equal protection under the law,"
read the key paragraph of the nearly 1,200-word text

This could prove quite interesting. How is this "secular" republic going to deal with the large Catholic population? There could also be a sizable Moooslem population. How will the new nation address them? Ol' BC doesn't have enough of a grasp of the political climate in the area to know what to expect. One thing can pretty much be certain - someone, probably of somewhat unsavory character, will see an opportunity in Kosovo. How will the new democracy respond?

Superdelagate - A Big Money Job

While reading up on the trials and tribulations of Indiana's Coach Kelvin Sanctions, I came across this little gem.

"While it would be unseemly for the candidates to hand out thousands of dollars
to primary voters, or to the delegates pledged to represent the will of those
voters, elected officials serving as superdelegates have received about $890,000
from Obama and Clinton in the form of campaign contributions over the last three
years," the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics reported today.

Wow! It sure appears that being a superdelegate isn't a bad gig. It seems that trying to buy an election didn't end with Mayor Richard Daley years ago in the windy city.

Happy Valentines Day

Returned from the land of the liberals (San Francisco) in time to wish you all a happy Valentines Day. Had a good time out there although it is a little different. Did get to see a nice demonstration, SF style, however. Anyway, be sure to do something nice for your valentine. If you don't have a valentine, do something nice for someone you wish was your valentine.

Illegal Aliens - A True Story

Today, an interesting thing happened in this smallish midwestern city. One of our company vehicles was backed into by another vehicle. It just so happened the driver of the other vehicle was in the United States illegally. To complicate matters he had an Ohio license plate not registered to the vehicle brought up from Mexico. The gentleman driving our company vehicle politely asked the police officer investigating the accident what he was going to do since the other guy didn't have insurance or a drivers license. The officer responded that he couldn't do anything because they were in a parking lot.

One attorney I mentioned this incident to replied, "It is still property damage." I said that was exactly what I told the driver of our car. Never mind that the chump was in our country illegally and still is for that matter and still driving the illegally registered car. Someone has to pay for the damage he caused and it isn't going to be the guy driving illegally because he is an illegal alien.

For some strange reason nobody wants to deal with the paperwork required (or whatever else) to handle these matters when it comes to illegal aliens. I've heard about such stories and now I have first hand knowledge of one. Imagine if you will that you were driving the offending vehicle, illegally plated and uninsured. Would your car be towed to the impound? Would you be locked up? Wake up America!!!
