Another Domino Falls

Amazing how this works. One domino falls and then another in Iraq.
Read about it here.

Eleven Sunni insurgent groups have offered an immediate halt to all attacks _
including those on American troops _ if the United States agrees to withdraw
foreign forces from Iraq in two years, insurgent and government officials told
The Associated Press on Wednesday.

That's it in a nutshell. Big step. Two years is a long time. Long enough ffor more stability in the country.

Sunnis Coming Around In Iraq

This could spell trouble for the Democrats in the coming elections. Iraq appears to be moving to a united country under one government.

One of Iraq's largest Sunni Arab groups endorsed the prime minister's national
reconciliation plan on Tuesday, and the government announced new benefits to
help freed detainees return to normal lives.

All the naysayers and the MSM are soon going to have to come up with a new angle to bash Bush and the administration. Granted, that shouldn't be difficult. The big problem may be all the hot air they have expended bad mouthing the Iraq situation and now it is getting even closer to materializing as Dubya said.

Wear Those Seatbelts

This story tells what can happen if you don't wear that belt.

over and she was thrown through the sunroof and onto the roadway. Investigators
say she was not wearing her seatbelt.
Paramedics initially tried to fly
Matthews to Tampa General Hospital, but her weight, estimated at 600 pounds,

That tells the story. A six hundred pounder tossed through a sunroof!!

Buckle up, man!!

Way To Go Judge Alito

He's off to a good start. Of course, some of the do gooders and the wild eyed left are going to whine, but it makes perfect sense to Ol' BC.

The Humor Of Annie Coulter

It is the best. Of course, if you are one of the communal types or a wild eyed liberal who prefers to forfeit your rights (or other people's rights) to the government for the good of all, it may sting a little from time to time.

Lately, Ann has been subjected to the wrath of liberal elite for some of her comments. She didn't find them nearly as offensive as some of these she references in her column.

Here's an example -
Liberals don't care about women. They care about destroying human life. To them,
2,200 military deaths in the entire course of a war in Iraq is unconscionable,
but 1.3 million aborted babies in America every year is something to celebrate.

There's more. She is definitely entertaining.

Guillen Punished

Remember when only white anglo-saxon protestants were punished or demeaned for slurs. It really hasn't been that long ago. Now, minorities are being fined for such offenses. We're not talking about blacks calling each other nigger. That seems to be perfectly acceptable. Ozzie Guillen, a latino, called a writer a common slur that refers to one's sexual orientation. Not only was he fined, but ordered to attend sensitivity training. Ol' BC doesn't know too many head coaches or managers that are real sensitive.

June 20th...NBA Crowns Champion

...and it isn't even Major League Baseball's all-star break yet. Oh, and by the way, does the U.S. have a yacht in the World Cup?

Speak English Please At Geno's

Sure he's the grandson of Italian immigrants. Sure he has realized the American dream. Sure his family business is successful. Would assimilation have anything to do with the success of Geno's Steaks in Philly? Most likely.

Now dig this. Geno's has a sign posted -

This is America - when ordering, speak English.

Of course a civil rights watchdog agency has opened an investigation. Read about the situation and potential charges here.

Ol' BC knows where he'll be eating when he goes to Philly. I hope you all will do the same. This freedom of speech thing tends to have streets named after it.........ONE WAY.

Education - A Good Post

While reading along and chuckling at what Ann Coulter has done to the liberals again, I came upon a brilliant and well researched post by way of RWR.

Take a minute and look at what the early founders of public education were thinking and writing about their mission. Hint...it wasn't really about what most of us consider education.

Wealth, It's Not A Bad Thing

By way of one of my all time favorites, I stumbled across this incredibly thoughtful piece. While the left likes to throw stones at those who work hard and find financial success, this piece points out some of the positives to society of having some wealthy folks.

Would this country be better off if Bill Gates had never been born? My guess is
that Microsoft’s 61,000
plus
employees wouldn’t think so. What about the recipients of the $28.8
billion that Bill Gates has given away to charities and causes? What about the
people who built his mansions and his cars? Heck, what about you? Do you have
any Microsoft products on your computer?

The piece talks about the standard of living enjoyed by a vast majority of Americans compared to only the wealthiest several years ago. It also talks about the top 5 percent of Americans paying HALF the income taxes in this country.

It also fails to mention that collectivism has pretty much failed all over the world, but such is the case. As strange as it seems, when there is no reward for hard work, people seldom work hard. Those countries trying to hang onto communism had to cave in and open up markets and allow some private ownership to survive. Survive but not flourish. (See Europe as an example and most of Europe wasn't quite communist, but socialist enough to squash any incentive to excel.)

It worth taking a minute to read the entire piece. Thanks to RWR for the post that led to this.

Just an observation.

Did They Mean That?

Every now and then as I contemplate one thing or another, like how the White Sox can look so good one day and suck so badly the next or what UAB was thinking when they hired their basketball coach, I come up with some brain worm that just hangs around for a while.

Well, here's the latest. What is Dennis Hastert thinking? I don't think the authors of the constitution had William Jefferson in mind when they came up with their separation of powers idea. They were probably thinking back to how it was in England and how they could protect against such things in the new country. Probably. I seriously doubt if they were thinking of prohibiting a legal search of a Congressman's office when a proper warrant had been issued with probable cause. I doubt they were considering the possibility of $100,000 bribes being captured on videotape given the technology available in the 1700's.

At any rate, do you think Hastert may show any outrage at the $100,000 bribe being accepted and most of it being found in Jefferson's freezer (obviously, he's an intellectual giant.)? I know it isn't politically correct to speak harshly of a Democrat, especially since everyone thought all the crooks were with the GOP, but this one's on tape. It's unfortunate he's from Louisiana. It's unfortunate that he's black. But, it's really unfortunate that he got caught on video. Quit whining about the search. Whine about the crook.

Just a thought.
